Sharayah Carter

RMIT, VIC, Australia

Dr Sharayah Carter is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over a decade of experience in chronic disease management. She completed her PhD in 2019 at the University of South Australia, focusing on the effects of intermittent versus continuous energy restriction in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes. Her research led to the development of the first medication protocol for safely implementing intermittent fasting in this population. Dr Carter's postdoctoral research is centred on cardiometabolic disease prevention, and she has led several large-scale, US-funded dietary interventions. Now based at RMIT Melbourne, she combines her teaching with ongoing research, focusing on chronic disease prevention, behaviour change, and tackling nutrition misinformation—dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific research and practical public health applications.
